I Praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Psalm 139:14 (NLT)
I recently had the opportunity of hearing the word “labels’ a few times and on various occasions as to:
How others may label us
- How we may label ourselves
- How life may label us
- How we may label others
Sometimes it is of a positive nature – godly, good-looking, wealthy and so on.
Often and other times, it may be of a negative nature – ungodly, not good-looking, of a lower class and so on.
My thoughts today are, no matter what people; life; and ourselves as individuals; have labelled us, let’s choose to believe “We are Who God says that We Are!
Let me ask you this, who has the ultimate right to name a product?
I believe it is the Product’s Creator.
God is Your Creator, and my Creator.
Let’s stick with the Original Label our creator gave us!
That scripture in Psalm 139:14, also says, “I know that full well”
How do we get to this stage of knowing – that means that even our soul knows full well (King James Version) who God says that we are?
We must believe it.
How do we believe? Through faith.
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Romans 10:17 (NIV)
It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak,
2nd Corinthians 4:13 (NIV)
You see, it’s a cyclical process:
- We speak the name (label) God has given us so that we hear it
- Hearing it brings about faith (belief), as in Romans 10:17
- We must then speak (and keep speaking) what we have believed
The way to believe what God says concerning us, is to speak (and keep speaking) it to our own hearing (affirm/declare) and this is why the bible says that faith comes by hearing.
So, my dearest ones (myself included), from Today, let us speak that which God says concerning us, so that we may hear ourselves, and then believe and BECOME all that He has called us to be in Jesus name, Amen.
A little word of caution for You and I, let’s be careful (and pray for the grace) not to give others negative labels and then treat them as such but rather to encourage and lift up.
May the Lord God Almighty, the giver of all grace, give you and I the grace to BECOME all that He has called us to be through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
